Stretching out tight hips are very beneficial for the body. We tend to hold a lot of emotion and stress in our hips-the seat of our emotions. By breathing and creating space in our hips can help the lower back and posture. In yoga, hip openers loosen the hip socket to improve the range of motion. This helps with body’s circulation and alleviating back pain. If you sit on a desk all day, pregnant, or in general just have tight hips. Using specific hip opener poses will be beneficial. We will focus on strengthening our deepest most core muscles. You will learn how to stabilize the core to achieve better posture and flexibility in the spine and limbs! We will think of the core as the muscles that start at the base of the pelvic floor, through the whole abdominal region, through the upper torso, all the way to the top of the neck. In this integrative approach to core work we will focus on strengthening these deep muscles will playing with moving our extremities to challenge our balance. Today, we will practice Nude Capoeira! Martial arts can be practiced for any reason from combat to meditation and they result in a sense of discipline, confidence and responsibility as well as a deeper understanding of human nature and the Self. This class will cover basic capoeira movements for beginners. I will demonstrate a basic fight stance, elbows blocks, knees and kicks. Practitioners are encouraged to train in an open space with plenty of room to move, and may use either a partner or a mirror for feedback on technique. We will start with some of the foundational foot and arm work and the sequence called Ginga- which a lot of the class will build on later. If you are recoveriing from Knee Injury, but you wanna try out some naked yoga, this is the video for you! This class is great for reintroducing some gentle movement into your routine after some time recovering from a knee injury. I will show you how to do yoga even if you have a foot injury and can’t stand on your foot! We will work mostly on the floor, today. You might need to adjust certain poses because all injuries are unique and require different care. This is a modification of some traditional vinyasa poses made easier but taking away pressure on the knees and doing the poses reclining rather than standing, sitting, or kneeling. Being in touch with our bodies and present with them has a great healing effect and this class demonstrates it. This class is designed to be practiced for when you are standing around waiting somewhere. It can be while waiting in a line somewhere, or just standing around any rear in general. Summer is here! This is the time of year, where everyone is traveling for the holidays. Traveling usually involves sitting in a seat of a airplane, car, bus, or train. When we sit in one place for a long time it creates stagnation in the body. This class will help us open up our hips and our shoulders so that we can get our circulation moving again and back to our optimal health. This class will help increase circulation in the body and help to wake everything up. For those who might have jet lag, this is a great sequence! Cautions: In this sequence we might be doing a bit of floor to standing exercises repeatedly and in some cases might cause lightheadedness. If you get dizzy during practice it’s important to sit down and rest. This is both a grounding and relaxing class meant to alleviate the stiffness associated with sitting on a plane or a bus for a while.
